Working to save the best of California for our future

Advocating for science-based solutions to climate chaos

Supporting actions and policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Fighting to reduce air and water pollution harming our communities

Climate Action California is a volunteer-led policy and advocacy group advancing science-based solutions to the climate crisis.

Down to the wire for the climate!

The legislative session is heading to its conclusion with a bunch of bills that made it this far. From now until August 31, we all need to contact our legislators and tell them we need them to vote to reduce emissions and protect the climate!

What We Do

We work in teams focused on pollutants and emissions sources, and advocate for local, state, and federal legislation and policies that move the needle on climate. We track bills, work in coalition to promote our positions, and keep in close touch with legislators and agency decision-makers on a wide range of issues from building decarbonization and plastics to energy policy and the California budget.

How We’re Different

Climate Action California is the only volunteer-led, grassroots climate advocacy group in our state with our approach and focus. We take science-based positions on legislation and policies that 1) reduce short-lived climate pollutants including methane and refrigerants, 2) advance clean transportation and transit, and 3) accelerate an equitable, just transition to the low-carbon future we all need.

Tell NOAA: MORE drilling off our coasts? No way!

The so-called "evaluation" of California's federally approved Coastal Management Program program by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration threatens to expand offshore drilling, take away California's ability to make decisions affecting our own waters, and set a terrible precedent for coastal marine protection.

Connect Bay Area on the November ballot

Still recovering from the pandemic and changing work habits, San Francisco Bay Area transit agencies are facing a fiscal cliff. The Connect Bay Area Measure on the November ballot will rescue vital agencies, improve service, and continue our evolution toward a more seamless, integrated system.

High time to make polluters pay for climate harms

As climate disasters grow more extreme, we need to hold the fossil fuel industry accountable. Who better to make families and communities whole after a climate-fueled fire or flood?  Climate Superfund legislation will keep on coming back in the state legislature until we pass it at last!
